J C Riechers manager at Filer Auto reports high demand for new Ford cars with buyers including the village of Filer Rural high school district Roy Williams Hollister J J Heidel Castleford and touring models. He notes difficulty obtaining sufficient cars to meet the demand.
Residents report a peeping Tom observed near windows at two homes late Tuesday and this week. A mother and daughter confronted by the intruder prompted screams. husband fired lights and the man fled toward the street as residents threaten shotguns to deter further incidents.

Local citizens back a plan to convert a pond owned by L Kirkpatrick in the northeast into a summer swimming pool. Volunteers would add sand and maintain the site, seeking community support while weighing objections from downstream residents over bathing water use and domestic needs.
Piler of the American Legion met at the office of W D Gillis adjutant last evening to elect delegates for the state convention at Comur d Alene August 9 10 and 11. W D Gillis was named to represent the local unit. The Legion Auxiliary will meet Monday afternoon at the home of president Mr T Pan Connor to select delegates to the same state convention to be held at the same time and place.
A passing shower offered temporary relief from a heat wave that gripped the area. Tuesday’s temperature reached 94 degrees, with a seasonal high, while the average for that day was 72. The heat weighed on people though some noted overall benefits to erupe.
The Twin Faille county fair offers seven dollars for a single sheaf of grain from 13 listed crops with a grand champion prize of five dollars. First, second, and third place cash premiums exist, with exhibits judged on size, arrangement, and binding. Entries must meet four inch diameter sheaves and proper preparation, with a premium list available from Secretary J. M. Markel in Filer.

Two carloads of cherries were shipped from Peavey on Tuesday by Crystal Springs Orchard Company. The fruit went to Libby and McNed Libby in The Dalles Oregon for delivery to shipments.
The Oregon Short Line tied its return to the Interstate Commerce Commission questionnaire and has studied buying property west of Rock Creek for terminals and a roundhouse for the Rogerson Wells road. A commission construction permit is expected in the next three or four weeks, with field engineers expanding surveys. Congressman Smith reported the railroad filed its return with Washington on July 7 and aims to start construction once the permit is issued.
