Roy Landreth a Filer Rural high school student suffers extensive facial injuries and a broken nose after a Ford roadster collision with a buggy near the county hospital Tuesday night. He underwent about 40 stitches and may miss the semester. Vernon Grimm and Gordon Diehl sustained minor injuries. The buggy occupants fled east toward Twin Falls and remain at large.

Hard Surfac ed Road to Clover Will Be Reality
A hard surfaced link from Clover to Filer is near completion. The Filer Highway district reports two miles of crushed rock road will reach Bustetor corner, a mile north of the high line canal, with Clover residents pledging support and funds from local merchants aiding the final stretch. Ranchers have hauled rock via a portable crusher, and work will begin next week on the last mile, creating three more miles of good road in the district.

Midnight Blaze In Business District Under Control
A fire in a long-standing building in the business district was brought under control after two water streams and chemical apparatus cooled the rear flames within 20 minutes. Frank Wilks the tailor saved much of his stock and equipment. Lake C. Hive bakery owner reported the blaze. The structure, built in 1896, stood near the old Lamimark site. insurance covered the loss was set at $1000.

Sophomore James Calvert survives hours trapped under overturned car
James Calvert a 17 year old sophomore at Filer Rural High School lay beneath an overturned vehicle for hours after a Saturday night crash on a highway near Twin Falls. He was found by bystanders, released, and transported to the county hospital where X rays showed multiple injuries including one eye trauma and head bruises. Calvert’s friends credit his physical condition for his endurance during the ordeal.
