The Piler district in southern Idaho endured one of the heaviest snowstorms in local history. Ten inches had accumulated by Tuesday afternoon with ongoing thaw and drizzle. Skating suffered, but holiday shopping rose as cold weather apparel boosted clothing sales and a sleigh was seen on the streets as Christmas nears.
Bonded indebtedness for Twin Falls County taxing bodies totals over 5.9 million dollars with general bonded debt at 5,032,120 and district allocations for improvements including paving sidewalks and sewers. The report lists Western Pails City 508,541.89 Publ City 256,500.00 Piler Village 1,756.20 Kimberly Village 70,808.00 and totals to 5,978,915.08. A Christmas tree event is planned for Friday at 7 30 pm. Regular services follow with Sunday School and worship at 11 04. An Advent prayer meeting is set for Wednesday at 7 40. Special singing and events are promised while inviting all to attend.
The 1922 license plate program for over 60 thousand automobiles was unveiled with orange and black plates. Secretary James Janet warned motorists against using 1929 plates before January 1 and explained that properly filed applications with the receipt could be used as plates arrive.
The Methodist Church hosts a Christmas cantata and pageant titled Carrying Christ to Every Child on Sunday evening. The Sunday School will study the Christmas message Sunday morning. The service features new numbers and baptism for interested individuals, a sermon by Mr Christ Were Kent, and a full cantata under Mrs G Shearer with organ, choir, and orchestra. The Epworth League leads at 36 pm, with multiple solos and ensemble pieces by named performers. A World Prayer, cantata prayers, and choir selections fill the program, concluding with a star halo finale and choir solos.
