School year to start in September countywide

County school leaders announce first week of September start dates for most districts with staggered openings for Filer and Maron, and the annual meetings set for September 4. Tuition changes are outlined for out of district students, with high school cuts of about 40 percent reflecting a wider cost reduction. New home economics instructor Thornber resigns to join Moscow High School. Mrs Gillis elected to replace.

Ford Caravan Here Saturday Won Interest

Ford caravan demonstrations by factory reps with Filer Auto attracted fair crowds. J C Klechers praised equipment on display. Plowing and threshing demos near Deklots ranch drew interest. Road grading machinery and the Lincoln car drew attention. Ford motion pictures on the old telephone building closed the day with locals watching.

Burley Abandons Fair Plans in Cassia This Fall

Burley has abandoned plans to hold a county fair in Cassia this fall. Only stage one meets were scheduled for September 19 and 30 with 21 noted, but no definite announcements have been issued indicating a fair will proceed this autumn.

Hooks and books update for Central School pupils

Hooks for grades three to five will mirror last year with McPadden, Frye, Atwood texts. Saturday September 1 at Central School a sale will offer new and used books for all four grades. The district will not buy or exchange pupil books except as needed to meet demand. a complete list appears in The Record.

Rain Freshens Up Atmosphere Weather Report

Rain improves the atmosphere over the week with moderate weather. Wheat yields reach 50 60 and up to seven bushels per acre. Barley yields high. Jay Thomas reports 1900 bushels from 18 Haag ranch acres. Onions averaging 1.76. Potatoes shipped with contracts around 1.20 per hundred. Outlook says the crop will exceed last year and most meat of the middle crop already sold.

Family Picnic at Fair Grounds in Maroa Honors Local Birthdays

A two in one event at the county fair grounds Sunday honored the Dryden Brown and Beer Moseley families for birthday anniversaries of Mrs Henry Dryden Mrs A E Pond Erskine Brown Master Wilbur Brown and Boyd Pond and Feese of Wymore Nebraska. Attendees included numerous Dryden Pond Brown Moseley and Drake families with a large dinner served along white linen tables and two special features noted in the account.

U S Meat opens new Twin Falls market home

After months of delay in installing machinery the U S Meat company new Twin Falls home opened to the public Saturday. The market, operated by Jacob Schaefer, is said to be equal or better than any comparable concern in the state.

Z T Spellman Dies After Hospital Operation

ZT Spellman a former resident died in a Gooding hospital after an operation. Funeral services will be at the Methodist church in Gooding at 2 p m with Rev C B Deal officiating. The Spellman family recently lived near Michfield after moving from this area where he ran a milk and cream route.

County Fair Parking Rules Endorsed By Village Board

At a special meeting last Friday the village board authorized Lt. TL Ab Jen to cooperate with County Fair Secretary J M Market on emergency auto parking regulations and on supervising concessions along the main street during the county fair from September 11 to 14. Market proposes keeping streets leading to the fair grounds a block clear of parked cars to ease traffic after each day's program.

Pren Moore Talks on Poultry Raising

A county wide poultry excursion held Tuesday sparked interest in egg and meat production. Pren Moore spoke at the fair grounds and addressed the benefits of poultry facilities, while attendees discussed local expansion and farming improvements. The event coincided with community updates including a farewell for Mrs. Patten and plans for relocation to Los Angeles for her daughter Geneva.

F C Graves Appointed to Idaho Public Utilities Board

F C Graves a pioneer Piler realtor and insurer was appointed by Governor Moore to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, replacing E B M Sweeley who resigned August 16. The 16 month term runs to January 1 1926 with a $1,000 salary. Graves plans to stay in Pocatello and continue his business. he will not move to Boise.

Potato Growers Meeting Falls Short of Plan Details

Charles B. Hassett, a specialist in organization, spoke at a poorly attended meeting on the fair grounds Tuesday night. He outlined the Hassett plan of organization for potato grower contracts, warehouse pooling, standardized purchasing, and marketing to secure the highest price and allocate new revenue shares to members.

Road accidents multiply when pavement is wet

A series of accidents last week on wet pavement and with headlights failing injured several locals and damaged property. In heavy rain on Sunday traffic between Twin Falls and Buhl caused six wrecks with injuries, including W Sparling and family, De W A Darrah, Lloyd Hill, Mrs Hill, and Robert Owens. A six year old and a four year old also sustained injuries in separate incidents, plus a plums accident near Sarto causedBeott McCleary bruises.

Armes Duroc Sale Averages Forty Dollars

Armes Durocs sold a register of sows at an average of 40 dollars with fifty head of staples also disposed of. The offerings went to Eden Rupert Bubi and Shelley buyers. Col EB Walter auctioned the sale assisted by Dean Sullivan of Rupert. Para Fieldstead of Bisekfoot acted as fieldman.
