The War Department confirms Private Erickson was killed in action October 5th. A Red Cross letter to Homer J. Weaver of Filer Idaho says the department will inform next of any grave location or a possible photograph. Erickson, about 30, came from Minnesota years ago and lived with Weaver, leaving two brothers and a half brother in Minnesota.
Case and Schildman of Filer entered a car of prime hogs at the Live Stock show in Salt Lake City last week. They won Grand Champion and the first prize money of 700 dollars, plus the hogs sold at three cents per pound. The article touts Idaho hog production and gains from careful selection and feeding.

The Filer Methodist church clears a two thousand dollar Home Missions loan after a successful pledge drive. Contributions funded by subscriptions and offers from Board of Home Missions and Mr and Mrs H J Weaver enabled the mortgage payoff and the planned bell in the bellfry. Church gratitude is expressed to generous friends.
A caucus convenes Friday night April 11 at 8 o clock at the Jem Theatre to select candidates for village officers to be elected April 22. All voters are urged to attend as D J Davis chairs and A M Penny acts as clerk.
The Idaho Power Company has a large force at work in this locality enlarging power lines. The Clover plant will be increased from 22,000 to 41,900. Increased business has made necessary capacity expansion to care for it.
Rusty Diehl son of Mr and Mrs G Diehl near Filer arrived here last week to visit relatives after severe injuries in a September tank collision in France. His right leg was crushed above the ankle and he was knocked unconscious. In Salt Lake a specialist will remove bone growth and reset the limb, with an eight month hospital stay before use may return. He describes a long hospital treatment to prevent shortening. Despite the misfortune he remains hopeful for full recovery.
H G Manyon received a telegram Monday morning from his son Vernie stating he had arrived at Newport News Sunday from overseas. The note gives no further details on his condition or expected arrival home. Vernie was wounded twice in service a shrapnel wound in the back and a machine gun bullet in the arm. He has been in hospital for some time and his parents await news on his recovery.

Secretary Carter Glaw announces installment dates for Victory Loan notes. Ten percent due by May 10, ten percent by November 9, twenty percent by August 12, with interest on deferred installments. Full payment can be made by May 20 after the initial ten percent is paid, or on any installment date with accrued interest.
