The Rt. Rev. Francis Silas Chatard bishop of the Indianapolis diocese died Saturday after months of illness. Born December 13 1834 in Baltimore he became an American bishop in 1878 and led Vincennes and later Indianapolis. Funeral services were held at Saints Peter and Paul cathedral in Indianapolis yesterday at ten oclock with clergy attendance.
Card of Thanks extends gratitude to neighbors and Rev Fathers John Dominic and St Eberhard Society for aid during illness and death of Stephen Elmer. About 60 Huntingburg Liberty Guards, led by Fred Stimson, visited by train and performed an exhibition drill on Ohio street before returning to the depot. Captain Seufert urged regular drills and new members, with uniforms to be ordered soon to curb extra costs.

Stephen Elmer died after a year and a half battle with consumption at his sister Mrs. John Knapp’s home. He was 42 years old, never married, and left behind sisters Mrs. Mary Knapp Mrs. Josephine Self and Mrs. Tolis and brothers Robert Tony and Joe. Interment was Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Cemetery after a requiem mass.
Mrs. Joseph Arehart of Siberia died last Thursday after a short illness at age 66. Survived by eight children and three stepchildren, including Mrs. John Uebelhoer of Ferdinand and Ed Arehart of Peoria. Interment was in St. Martins cemetery in Siberia on Monday morning.

Indiana Public Service Commission orders true copies of petitions filed within three days with the clerk and affected newspapers and parties.
Otmar, three months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schipp, died Monday afternoon at one o'clock from cholera infantum. Burial was held Wednesday morning at St. Ferdinand cemetery. The bereaved parents receive our heartfelt sympathy.
Edwin Horney thanked Leo Seufert for home drill instructions used in Liberty Guards training. Horney credited the practice with improving performance leading to a promotion.
Miss Alma Bromm who had served as assistant postmistress for years departed Sunday night for Evansville to attend college. The text notes a change in the post office staff with Marcella Meteger replacing Bromm.
