The Preliminary Teachers Institute gathered all teachers from Jackson and Ferdinand townships in the school hall last Friday. County Superintendent Melchior urged sanitary reforms, mandating pupil teeth examinations and report on blanks. The Ferdinand Peter pump was proposed as the sanitation system, with Albert Sondermann presenting the plan and inviting attendance at his home to view it.

A menacing missive from Diamond Dick Leader warns Claude Lindauer and the Hoya group after beer-bottle shaped grenades were thrown at them on the way home from a St Meinrad dance. A large crowd gathered Wednesday night at the Lindauer home to celebrate Mary Zint's birthday hosted by Mr and Mrs Edwin Lindauer and Mr and Mrs Ben Krampe. The event featured games won by Albert Seufert with Louise Hollinden and Hattie Mueller with Albert Seufert, plus refreshments. A separate note reports a surprise party for Mr and Mrs Schreiner in honor of their 5th wedding anniversary with numerous relatives present and a night of music and dancing.
