In Jasper Indiana on November 5 James Coffey won a court decision against the town of Jasper for 610.56 with Retzel & Chipman handling costs. The ledger lists multiple cases including foreclosures quiet title and guardianship actions with various outcomes and venue changes to Pike circuit court.
A Halloween party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sondermann for their daughter Verena. The well decorated home and October mood accompanied games, amusements, and refreshments. Attendees included Nellie Eckstein, Laura Eckstein, Olivia Sermernheim, Alma Sondermann, Lucile Beckman, Edwin Horney, Werner Wollenmann, William Hackmann, Henry Timmermann, and Leo Sevitert.
A rural Indiana school house three miles east of Jasper was set ablaze yesterday evening. An unknown person used sage grass and kindling at a corner by a bookcase. A nearby farmer stopped the blaze before major damage. Bloodhounds from Princeton tracked the trail.
The regular term closed with Isaac McCune not yet concluded, continuing to Monday. A detailed expense ledger totals 1230.40 with major costs in Landgrebe and McCune cases and names many local officials and jurors.
Mrs Eckenfels of Jasper daughter of Mrs Ben Kippenbrock of this place fell from her doorway last Saturday morning. The front steps had been removed by someone playing tricks the night before and she did not notice the absence when opening the door.
The board agreed Tuesday night to add two more crossings this year if weather permits. One would run from Henry Beckmann's store to Frank Roos' saloon and the other from Ben Seufert's marble shop to Gust Woerter's saddlery. Twenty nine votes were cast at the election Tieaday, two excluded. Some favored Frank Hollinden with five more votes than Chas Metzger, causing Hollinden four years of torture and Metzger two.

The Indiana circuit court jury returned a not guilty verdict in State vs Isaac J. McCune after a trial begun Saturday. Jurors listed include George Kreilein Edward Gutgsell Fred Frank John Stamm Alvis Birkle Philip Mandy Abe Brown Preston Small F B Anderson Henry Wuebner Louis Weber Herman Humbert. The McCune case involved alleged murder of his wife with a club and neck fracture. Floyd Bufkins murder case attorney changes noted with R W Armstrong withdrawing and BR M Milburn appointed under county contract.
A series of marriage licenses shows couples from Jasper Schnellville Huntingburg Ferdinand and neighboring areas. Names include Hugo M Melchior and Laura O Striegel Elizabeth Johanneman and Ignatz Hoffmann and more with spouses from Jasper and surrounding communities.
Mr and Mrs George Messmer of Jasper hosted a visit with Mr and Mrs Xavier Batlis. J H Beckmann settled taxes at Jasper. Father Eberhard returned from Evansville en route to St Meinrad. Mrs Clem Kuoat of Jasper visited relatives there and at St Meinrad. Several others, including Ross Gregory of Tell City, Ed and Gilbert Gelthausen, Fathers Dominic Celestine Maran and Meinrad, and Dr and Mrs Hollinger, were noted in town and surrounding areas with various errands and visits.
Jasper Indiana reports grants of liquor licenses to John Dupps and Carl Rasche. Thomas H. Inman's bridge report and Henry Dall's bridge report were received. Mike Seid road viewers report with fees approved. Four bids for the Court House clock were received from Seth Thomas Clock Co, E Howard Clock Co, Century Tower Clock Works, and A E Pellham Clock Co. bids held under advisement for decision Saturday.
