At its first annual meeting in Barth's hall Hardwood Manufacturing Company elected officers for one year. Dean Schnauss as president Joe h as vice president Otto Boeglin secretary Robert J Beckmann treasurer Peter Gehl general manager. The seven directors include Leo Seufert and John Kreilein. Builders work begins with pillars set opposite the depot as timber arrives for sawmilling. The firm seeks local timber sellers and promotes home enterprise in Ferdinand. A long social note follows with a birthday party for Mrs Hassfurther and a theater ad for Gem Theatre Huntingburg indicating Christmas stock arrivals.

Wedding at St Henry church in St Henry
A pretty wedding was held at St Henry church on Oct 24 uniting Miss Elleno ra Begle and Hubert Schwinghammer with Father Toelle officiating. Attendants were Miss Mathilda Schwinghammer and John Begle. After the ceremony the bridal party joined breakfast at J. M. Schwinghammer’s home and a long celebration followed at the bride’s parents. The bride is Leo Begle’s daughter and the groom is Michael Schwinghammer’s son.

Large barn and farm buildings destroyed by fire
Mike Mehling’s barn granery and straw stack between here and St Meinrad were consumed by flames last Sunday morning. Mrs Mehling and two children escaped as neighbors helped. seven hogs, 18 tons of hay and crops were lost. Mrs Mehling suffered burns and shock but improved after several days. Cause unknown.

Wheeler Farm Hosts Big Rural Social Among 414 Guests
The postmaster and 413 others visited Mr and Mrs Clarence Wheeler near Adgeville for a Sunday gathering. Guests enjoyed a large supper and abundant hospitality, with manners forgotten in the feast. The event was voted an annual affair and left automobiles visibly lighter after departures.

Marriage Licenses for Frick Helm and Knust Burke
Harold C. Frick and Leoto Helm rich, both of Huntingburg, and John W. Knust of Ferdinand with Katie Burke of St. Anthony secured marriage licenses. A plasterer John Cronin fell forty feet from a scaffold at the new Convent church, bruised but alive, recovering in St. Louis. George Philips of Bristow died from ptomaine poisoning from sardines opened long ago. The new iron bridge over the big ditch is completed with the Ferdi nand train making a first run over it last Saturday.
