Mrs. Sherman Crutchfield, 30, died instantly at the George Eckert home between Birdseye and Siberia last Sunday afternoon when a shotgun discharged while a camera session was underway. Miss Ossie Eckert held the weapon before it fired, striking Crutchfield in the left eye. Crutchfield leaves a husband and four children.
Allen Bartlett sues Western Life Indemnity Co and Citizens Trust Co in Dubois circuit court over recent filings. Citizens Trust Co. sues John W. Schott and John Schott in the same week alleging unspecified note related actions.

San Antonio confectioners turn the desert cactus into candy after crystallizing and purifying the plant. Workers cut the plant with a machine as the first step in producing the cactus confection.

Police Corp. Michael J. Moran shot and killed his wife Bertha Lehr Moran at her apartment then took his own life. Described as despondent over alimony, Moran had testified in court against two men earlier that day. He left behind a son, Russel, while Bertha’s next of kin include her parents and five brothers.
