Death of Mrs Theresia Mehling at Ferdinand

Mya Peter Schmitt states Theresia Mehling died at her home east of Rermend last Saturday at nine after months of illness due to heart failure. She was born in Ferdinand, aged 66 years 7 months 22 days, left many children including Herman Evansville John William Henry Ferdinand Mrs Harry Lohse Mrs Henry Thornton Louisville Sister M Lucia Convent Jos Schlachter and Peter Schmitt, with siblings Christ Mehling and Mrs John Ginder. Interment was Tuesday after a requiem mass at St Ferdinand church. The bereaved express sympathy.

Marriage Licenses and Local Notices in Huntingburg Area

The notices list marriage licenses for Joseph Kiem with Rose Welp, George Weisman with Laura Mutchman, Urban Gerner with Maggie Hopf, James Meyer with Alice Wilkey, all residents of St Anthony or Huntingburg or Jasper. A found pocket-book of $3 was returned to owner Arthur Eiberg after proper verification. A baby boy named Hilbert Isidore was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Schuler, with sponsors Mrs. Loui Heits and Isidore Kineb. Two youths were jailed for disorder after a dance at Mike's Place. A postmaster examination has been filed and papers returned. A warning about lodging warnings while away and a general drug advertisement concludes.

Navy enlistments and county offices on June opening day

Four men join the navy with mixed results from examinations. Town Marshal Appointment By Board Of Trustees

The act passed by the last legislature requires towns to appoint a marshal who serves at the board's pleasure and whose salary is fixed by the board. In the future no town marshal election will occur, and the position will be filled by appointment by the town board of trustees.

Postoffice Building Sold to Move to St Henry

John Fischer of St Henry bought the old postoffice building from Werner Wollenmann last Saturday and plans to relocate it to St Henry. The 1878 structure, built by Mathias Olinger for Dr Math Kemp, has housed a drug store and later served as a post office.
