Local notices mention the Spencer County fair set for September 14 to 17 at Chrisney. Other items include a surprise party for Ed Wirtzberger, a stroke recovery for Mrs. Wim. Wirtzberger, a Kilian visit to Huntingburg May 16, and a bridge project discussed by County Commissioners. The Jease James Orchestra plans a May 27 event at Enust's Hall for married and single guests, and Decoration Day graves are to be decorated by May 30.
Local residents and visitors recur through town scenes with families traveling from St Meinrad Tell City Huntingburg Jasper Evansville and Louisville. The ledger notes wedding attendance engine orders and trips to Lawrenceburg French Lick and Evanville as relatives and friends gather and disperse.
Mike Drach was in Fulda on business Wednesday. Miss Theresia Eversmann, who left for Loninville two weeks ago, returned home Saturday to stay with her sick sister, Mrs. William Wirtzberger.
Next Sunday Ferdinand Reda plays its second game of the season. A strong Troy team visits to challenge the locals and make the contest interesting. Everyone is urged to attend and support the home squad.
At the Auditor's office meeting last week the County Council approved 2013.16 for appropriations and discussed levying a tax to build a new court house. A follow up session is set for Monday June 7.
A message from Billings Missouri letters Henry Haake subscribes to the News. Berghaus, secretary of Billings Creamery, noted. A four year old girl in Ferdinand is bitten by a dog belonging to Revel, later sold to Blume. the dog is dispatched by police.
Property deeds listed include transfers in Dubois County with buyers and sellers such as Dekemper to Curtis Cumming and Grace Bailey, Cox to Grace and Dan Bailey, Stratter to Joseph Fleck, and Rasche to Schepers. Lot numbers range across 28 to 68 acres and tax-title notes appear, with various sums and parcels in Birdseye and surrounding areas.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Beckmann observed their 41st anniversary with a surprise gathering hosted by Ferdinand National Bank directors and their wives at the couple's home. A fine lunch and refreshments followed as Mr. Beckmann expressed satisfaction with 41 years of marriage and hopes for many more golden years.
While John Weebkenberg son of Ben Weebkenberg was harrowing on their farm near town last Saturday the harrow overturned and the three horses pulling it piled on the teeth. One horse was torn badly and is expected to die, another suffered large cuts, and the third only scratches. All three are valuable and a death would be a heavy loss to Mr Weebkenberg.

A solemn May 12 ceremony at the Olinger home united Michael Olinger and Miss Mary Lindauer with Father Eberhard officiating. Attendants included Frances Olinger and Miss Boehm, with Irene Lindauer as flower girl. Only relatives and neighbors attended as the Aid Society Band provided supper music, celebrating a union praised as worthy and hopeful.
