Murder Threat to Exaggerated Claim of Beating Witness

A man in St. Anthony Indiana aged as John Slattery or John living in Louisville was found on a road near a railroad track with severe injuries after being beaten by river men. Doctors treated head wounds leg injuries and multiple broken ribs before he was sent to New Albany under Hugo Demuth. The man claimed he might reveal thefts from Louisville wharf boats and feared being harmed. He said he had a daughter in New Albany whose husband Chester Philips contacted authorities.

Estimable Lady Called Home in St. Anthony

Mrs. George B. Burke nee Wehr, age 40, of St. Anthony Indiana, died last Thursday at home after a brief illness from brain trouble. Funeral rites were held with a requiem mass and Father Clement officiating. Survived by husband four daughters one son father four brothers two sisters and many others. Hundreds attended the funeral showing her high regard.

Former Citizen Dies Sudenly

Benjamin Y. Reutmann of Covington Kentucky, formerly of this place, died at his home Monday afternoon at two o clock from heart disease. He had worked that morning and felt better at noon but stayed home after dinner when the fatal attack occurred. He leaves his wife three daughters one son and several brothers and sisters Clem Reutmann and Mrs. Charles Reutmann of Ferdinand are a brother and sister in law respectively. The bereaved have our sympathy.
