Berlin papers publish a Brussels letter on life under Prussian control. It recounts a drastic eight o’clock curfew, closed cafes, and quiet streets with only patrols and distant gunfire. The piece notes Belgians adapting by day and families enjoying home life, while a Zeppelin over Brussels highlights the oppressive mood.
An Anaconda Montana man, YP B Christian of El Centro California, trapped a golden eagle in Chateau Montana on August 19. He released it with his name and address in a bottle. Luis Felipe Rulda of Colombia later reported the eagle was killed October 29, having traveled about 3700 miles to the plains north of Bogota.
