Mrs. Michael Schmitt aged 83 died Tuesday night at her daughter Mrs Valentine Durchholz home after living in the country sixteen years. Cause was senile debility. Two sons in New York and one daughter survive. Interment in St. Ferdinand cemetery. M Born & Co. ad accompanies notice.
The first Common School Examination of the year is set for Saturday March 16th pupils in the seventh grade excluded from eligibility and teachers urged not to push weak pupils. Graduation standards rise across schools and grade schools must meet higher demands. Also on Saturday March 8th the local spelling contest offers prizes in many townships and voters will be polled per six year enumeration law. The Beckmann Store advertises dress goods embroideries trimming and undergarments from Henry Beckmann and Sons.
Marriage license records show Emil L. Karcher of Dahlgren and Florence J. Rubenaker of McLeansboro wed in the clerk’s office. Another ceremony occurred at St. Joseph’s parsonage with Helen Rust and Mayme IEichelbeck as witnesses, and Charles R. Copley with Esther J. Frehee of Huntingburg. Also noted is the sale of a Creamery stake by Joe Uebelher to Frank Drach, with plans for a Texas land purchase near Revierra and cross-border travel to Mexico before returning to the U.S.

Remonstrants by John E McFall and Horace M Kean presented a remonstrance citing indefiniteness. Petitioners by W Armstrong argued the voters of Ferdinand township should decide. After debate the commissioners granted the election.
Jasper Ind March 5 commissioners approved liquor licenses for Hubert Sternberg Frank Roos John Greener and Joseph Gunzel man and set a special session for March 8. Claims allowed include Ford Vollmer J P Schwenk Frank Betz Ed J Schwenk T R Woodburn Edward Schwenk and Andrew Gasser petition for road granted with most claims continued.
