Bordeaux mixture most popular fungicide now used
Missouri Agriculture notes Bordeaux mixture remains the leading fungicide for orchard spraying. It blends lime and copper sulfate into a stable, sticky solution that adheres to leaves, controls apple scab and rot, and is fairly gentle on fruit though minor russeting or leaf yellowing can occur. Guidance covers exact 4:4:40 and 2:3:50 mixes, equipment for stock and dilution tanks, slaking lime, dissolving copper sulfate, and steps to prepare 100 to 200 gallon batches with elevated tanks and strainers.
