Two Deaths at Mariah Hill Reported
Mariah Hill Ind June 10 Mrs George Roos nee Grundhufer died after a ten days illness the death due to apoplexy. She was 36 years old. She left a husband a father three brothers one daughter and many relatives. Funeral was Sunday eight oclock with interment in the Mariah Hill cemetery. Mrs Frank Wirthwein nee Riehl died of convulsions Saturday. She leaves a husband one three year old son her mother a brother and a sister. Interment was Sunday afternoon.

Franks Albert of St Meinrad died at his parents home Tuesday morning after eight days of illness kidney and liver trouble caused his death. Born May 21 1893 he was 21 years old at his death. Survived by parents two brothers Jake and Robert and two sisters Mrs Yeury Roledder and Mrs Charles Bartley. Interment will be in St Ferdinand cemetery this morning.

Pole Collapse Injures Louis Sauer at School Nearby
While replacing a transformer fuse on an electric light pole behind the school Friday afternoon, Louis Sauer was pinned under the cross-arms when the rotten pole broke. Helpers freed him and he suffers a broken leg and bruises. The fuse had burned out and Sauer, unaware the pole was rotten, had climbed to the top and attached a safety belt, trapping him.

Lightning Damages Homes and News Office in Local Storm
A heavy rain and electric storm lashed the community last Friday. Lightning struck chimneys at Mrs. Barbara Hackmann and Jon Schnaus homes and the NEWS office, felled several trees, and damaged telephones and electric systems. The trial of William Lytle for assault with intent to kill Albert Alexander began in Jasper County Circuit Court on June 9.
