Wife of Dubois County commissioner dies after brief illness

Elizabeth Hasenour aged 65 wife of H C Hasenour county commissioner of Dubois County died May 28 at 1 30 am at St Anthony s hospital Louisville after a brief illness She was born January 5 1855 in Louisville and moved with her family to Celestine later living in St Anthony She is survived by her husband three sons George W William J and Albert J and five daughters Mrs William Bales Mrs Basil Hochgesang Maggie C Selma C and Ludwina M Hasenour Funeral services were held at St Anthony s church and interment followed in St Anthony s cemetery Rev Clement Klinger officiating

Severe Midwestern Rainstorm Ravages Ferdinand Area

A record flood in the Ferdinand area with torrents of rain and hail battered the region last Sunday. The deluge washed out corn, damaged fruit trees, and sparked lightning and thunder as the storm lingered for hours. Huntingburg and Ferdinand saw rain with central heavy downpour. Farmers fear poor acorn crop and delayed planting amid ongoing daily rain.

Card of thanks thanks those who assisted in last Sundays Euchre and those who attended. A fishing trip on the Anderson near Adgeville included Mr and Mrs C R Schuler and children Mr and Mrs Simon Petry and baby Mr and Mrs Aloys Vogl Mr and Mrs Alois Gerber and children Mr and Mrs John Mehlung and children and Leo Klueh. They traveled in Schuler’s truck and had plenty to eat and drink. A fish fry followed at the Schuler home. Ferdinand the Place Brings Big Ferdinand Picnic

Weather permitting the Knights of Columbus picnic at Senninger’s Lion Garden in Ferdinand on Sunday June 6 aims to be among the largest events yet. The All Stars brass band is suggested, joined by the Juvenile Band of Jasper, with a special train from Huntingburg at 1 p.m. for attendees from nearby towns.

On May 29 at St Matthews Kentucky Robert Schwoeppe youngest son of Mrs Mary Schwoeppe and Miss Mary Stroud youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Noble Stroud were united in matrimony by Father Bowten. Henry Diers Dies After Long Illness

Henry Diers aged 69 died at his home near St. Henry Sunday at 4 50 P M after a lingering tuberculosis illness. He is survived by his wife and several children including John of Evansville Edwin and Otto of the home place Mrs Joe Gees kin of Huntingburg and St M Philomena of the Ferdinand Con vent Interment was at St Henry Tuesday morning at eight o clock.

Popular couple weds in St Ferdinand ceremony

George Kerstiens and Miss Alvina Laake were married in St. Ferdinand church Tuesday morning with Rev. J B Schorno officiating. Attendants included Joe Laake Bruno Jo hannemann and Emma Laake maid of honor. A breakfast at the Laake home followed and a noon feast at the groom's home concluded the celebration.

Knecht to entertain Ferdinand with double cartoon shows

Ferdinand Branch Knights of Columbus will bring K. K. Knecht, famed Evansville Courier cartoonist, for an afternoon matinee at 2 PM in the parochial school hall and an evening show at 7 PM in Senninger's Lion Garden. Knecht will discuss cartooning and draw live cartoons for attendees. He arrives by morning train and departs the next morning.
