Henry Bromm Injured in Louisville Train Collision
Henry Bromm former resident of this place suffered a fractured skull a broken rib and loss of part of a car when a wagon was struck by a train at a Louisville crossing. He remains in precarious condition at St Mary and Elizabeth hospital as of Tuesday morning. His wife and daughter Mrs Otto Spayd of Mariah Hill stay at his bedside.

County Commissioners Hold Regular Session Actions Taken

Only One Township Subscribes in County War Bond Drive
The county failed to meet War Savings Stamps targets with Jefferson township the only one selling its quota. Ferdinand township was nearest, short by about 37,430 dollars. The county quota was 38,200 dollars, with 30,770 pledged and sold, and 20,260 paid in cash by Tuesday evening.

Leo P. Sweeney of Jasper departed Tuesday morning for Richmond Indiana to receive training as an auto mechanic. On Monday evening Albert Griesinger Huntingburg, Gus A. Roth Ferdinand Wesley A. King Birdsey and Fred Dudine Schnellville left for Valparaiso to report for duty and receive a central mechanical training.

Conversion rules for Liberty Bonds at end of period
Liberty bonds of the first and second issues and those obtained by converting four percent bonds can be converted into four and one quarter percent bonds during May 8 to November 9, 1918. New bonds dated May 9 1918. After November 9 1918 no rights of conversion attach to four percent bonds. All four and three percent bonds are nonconvertible. Conversion may be made at Federal reserve banks or the Treasury. Registered bonds must be assigned to the Treasury. delivery limited to registered bonds. Coupon bonds may be converted into registered bonds. Coupon bonds must detach May 15 or June 16 1918 coupons. new bonds will have four attached coupons initially. Later exchanges require full coupons.
