Tragic Huntingburg Train Crash Kills Eleven
A Southern passenger train struck a truck carrying 21 picnickers near Huntingburg Indiana. Eleven died and eight injured as the truck was dragged along the track at high speed. Ed Rehl and family among the injured and dead. The victims include children and adults from Huntingburg and nearby areas. A special train evacuated the wounded to St. Marys hospital Evansville where additional deaths occurred.

Eight die in Huntingburg train wreck funeral notices
A deadly wreck near the Cannery in Huntingburg leads to multiple deaths and injuries. Undertakers from Huntingburg and Jasper prepared the bodies for burial as families gathered for three days of services. Sixty-eight witnesses were summoned for the investigation led by Dr W D Bretz with D C Matthews inspecting crossings for the public service commission.
