A World War I hero is laid to rest after dying of wounds in France. Robert J. Lange, born 1895 near Ferdinand, arrived with a guard and was viewed by family before interment in St. Ferdinand cemetery. About 150 soldiers, including Ferdinand and Jasper men, took part in a grand ceremony with military honors, a firing salute, and a bugler’s last farewell.

Charles Muth of Evansville Dies Suddenly
Charles Muth, a tailor at Strauss Bros. clothing store in Evansville, fell dead on a sidewalk yesterday morning from heart trouble. He leaves his wife, two sons Charles and Sylvester, and five daughters Marie Loretta Henriet ta Cecelia and Marguerite. No funeral plans announced.

Evansville tragedy ends in double death by suicide
Alois Gieger, known in Evansville and St. Meinrad, shot and killed a girl who had promised to marry him, then killed himself in a rooming house after learning she had wed another man. The pair were found the next morning. Gieger, a Swiss immigrant, had been employed as a hostler at St. Meinrad Abbey and was described as mentally peculiar with no relatives in the United States.

Two Men Sentenced for Grand Larceny in Kellerville Burglary
George Murphy and William Wise received one to fourteen year terms in the Indiana State Reformatory at Jeffersonville after pleading guilty to breaking into a farmer's Kellerville home and stealing goods worth fifty dollars. Each was fined 120 dollars and disfranchised for four years. Judge Dillon marked his first county act. They were moved to the reformatory Tuesday by Sheriff Nordhoff.

Judge Dillon presides at the January term with Miss Barbara Biffert as court stenographer. The petit jury was sworn Wednesday and will be called next Tuesday. Injured by dynamite cap on New Years day
Raymond Wessel, twelve, son of John Wessel, suffered serious injuries when dynamite caps exploded while he and his brother were handling them. The index finger of his left hand was torn off at the first joint, and his thumb and little finger were badly lacerated as fragments pierced his skin over the body.
