Mrs Elizabeth Meyer longtime resident dies after illness
Mrs Elizabeth Meyer nee Julkenbeck died at home Thursday after a six days illness of pneumonia. Born March 2, 1855 she married John H Meyer Feb 6, 1872 who died three years ago. She leaves six children and one sister. Funeral Sunday at 7 30 AM with interment in St Ferdinand Cemetery.

Former resident Bernard Kaupel dies in Hebron Nebraska
Bernard Kaupel, 76, died January 17 1922 at a private hospital in Hebron Nebraska from peritonitis after two operations. He leaves a widow two daughters and a son in law ten grandchildren and one great grandchild plus siblings and in laws. Funeral services were held at St Stephens Church with Rev Father Hahn officiating.

Income tax exemptions and filing rules for 1921 returns
The 1921 revenue act increases exemptions for single persons to 1000 dollars and for married earners to 2500 or 2000 based on income. Dependents’ exemption rises from 200 to 400. Filing is required for many with specified net or gross incomes and penalties apply for late or refused filings. Forms 1040 A and 1040 available at internal revenue offices. Tax may be paid in full or four installments due March 15 June 15 September 15 and December 15.

Toes Cut Off by a Cut-Off Saw in Siberia Ind
In Siberia Indiana on a Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Verner J. Bender, blacksmith and son-in-law of John Denu, slipped and his foot was drawn into a cut-off saw while woodworking. Dr. Wm. Lomax of St Meinrad treated the injured man, who is reported getting along nicely.

The past week saw new lawsuits in Dubois circuit court including John Daggs against Christina Daggs for divorce and Beck and Batt against Sam H Wulf on a lease contract. An engine derailed a Southern Railway passenger train at New Albany injuring the engineer Alex Johnson who died and the fireman in serious condition.
