Two Ven Sisters Called Home In Faithful Passing

The Immaculate Conception Convent notes the deaths of two Franciscan Sisters M Monica Kiveh born 1853 Ferdinand Indiana and M Cleophas Hurm born 1889 Fulda Indiana. Sister Monica died November 97 after a 32 year religious life with rites and Extreme Unction. Sister Cleophas died November 28 after taking Perpetual Vows two days earlier with a long teaching career at Tell City and Mt Vernon. Sister Monica survived by five brothers and one sister. Sister Cleophas survived by two brothers and four sisters.

Jasper County Commissioners to Meet Next Monday

Atty Bomar Traylor spent several days in Louisville this week while Mayor George P Wagner was in Indianapolis on business. Pastime Club members enjoyed a banquet Saturday night. Jasper Council No 1584 K of C degree team traveled to Evansville Sunday to confer the second degree on about 76 candidates.

New Suit for Divorce in Echeray County Circuit Court

Tonia Garland sues Edw H Garland for divorce citing cruel and inhuman treatment and continual abuse. She claims threats to shoot and multiple strikes since their marriage on April 20 1910 and abandonment on November 7 leaving her without support. They have one child Nellie Grace Garland and she seeks custody, $100 yearly support, alimony and $80 attorney fees. Garland formerly served in the army and receives a $6 monthly pension.

Farewell Party for Albert Schatz Goes To Clem Klosstermann

In Owa Indiana at the Klostermann home Albert Schatz departs to work for Clem Klostermann next year. Guests include Bilatine Bagge Dette Austerhouse Wagmoon Leache and others. The evening featured cards games beer cake and cigars as neighbors wished Albert good luck in his new job.

Magic Fire Extinguisher demonstration by Raymond Seales drew crowds, and a stabbing incident in Huntingburg left John Greener seriously injured. Local events included a dance at Senninger’s hall and a sale bill for Ed Ringemann & Son.

Home Fire Destroys Miles Residence at Adgeville

The Miles home in Adgeville was burned Tuesday night from an unknown origin. Mr. and Mrs Okles, seated inside, heard popping and cracking as flames overtook the room above them and escaped with no belongings. Buckets saved the new store across the street from the blaze.

Thanksgiving Party in the Woods at Long Point

A Thanksgiving party was held last Thursday in the woods at Long Point near Maxie Louisiana. The event featured card games and other activities with beer and chicken served. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Florenz Schatzle formerly of St Meinrad.

Aged farmer Mathias Semninger dies after long illness

Mathias Semninger a well known farmer died suddenly Monday night at his home two miles south of Tener. He was 83 years, 4 months and 4 days old born July 24 1834 in Luxemburg. He came to the U S at thirteen and settled where he died. Survived by children Meinrad Frank Frank Senoinger Nek Sesainger and others with wife preceding him fifteen years ago. Interment followed requiem mass at St Ferdinand church. The News extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
