Reds Sweep Two Games From Has Beens Last Sunday

The Reds won both games Sunday with scores reflecting a low scoring affair and featured performances by Olinger and Melchior in pitching. A lineup of the Has Beens including Ed Bromm Rob Renner and Dan Owen drew interest as players aged by years return to the diamond.

Rockport Fair Eyes Record Crowd With Electric Road

Next week Rockport plans its annual fair boosted by an electric road. Local notes report Mrs. Wm Huther ill, new traction engine bought by Philip Schilling, two newborns to Klueh and Reckelhoff couples, and Peter Mueller injured by a cow. A through coach from Jasper to Rockport Fair will run with no delays.

Smiths mill accident injures worker fingers

Robert Renner sustained severe injuries to the tips of his first and second fingers on his left hand while using a four hand saw at Pitts & Co's mill on Monday around three in the afternoon. He received medical attention promptly and the wounds are healing.

Militia Arrives After Tell City Tragedy

Tell City marshal Ed Hawkins was struck on Thursday evening and shot and killed Wm. Danfer whom he believed struck him. Militants arrived Friday to curb unrest and departed Monday. Mrs Danfer, widow of the slain man, died Monday from the shock.

Surprise 7th Birthday Party for Susie Seger

Rudie and Minnie Seger hosted a surprise party for their sister Susie in the afternoon of her 7th birthday. A lunch, flowers, a seven-candied cake, and treats followed with games including swinging and a peanut walk. Prizes were given to Dalla Grewe, Augusta Olinger, and Carl Grewe, with attendees listed.

Many visitors in town from Indiana and nearby states

A parade of residents and guests visited our town last weekend and early this week, including Miss Elizabeth Bockman and Sampson Hobbs from Siberia, Carl Neumann and Henry Stellenpohl from Louisville, and families from Tell City, Cannelton, Huntingburg, and Evansville. Local activities ranged from social gatherings and dinners to saloon visits, business trips, and a Benedictine Sisters departure for their schools.
