Reward Offered for Capture of Railroad Wreckers
Philadelphia April 9 President McCrea of the Pennsylvania Railroad convened a secret conference with vice presidents General Manager Atterbury and top detectives to marshal a campaign against wreckers. A $6,500 reward was posted for information leading to arrests and a large secret reward for any employee who captures a gang member on the job. McCrea will supervise the effort from Etaburg as guards and detectives are ordered to shoot to kill anyone tampering with tracks. Secret service operatives will be placed among foreign settlements near Pittsburgh to aid the investigation.
