Submarine Pluvesse Sunk Off Calais. 20 Lost

A French submarine Pluvesse collided with the Calais Dover packet Pas de Calais in the English Channel near Calais. All 20 crew members drowned as the submarine was partly submerged. The Pas de Calais returned to Calais damaged while French torpedo boats aided the scene. Weather was clear at the time.

Roosevelt Receives Honorary Degree at Cambridge

Col Theodore Roosevelt was awarded an honorary degree by Cambridge University. He traveled from London to Pembroke Hall and was greeted by a large crowd of students and townspeople, who cheered as he and the vice chancellor rode in an open carriage. University officials hosted a luncheon in his honor.

More than 60 cars entered as Indianapolis Racecourse hosts the opening speedway meet of 1910.
