Sleep Talk Leads to Police Murder Confession
James ONeill, serving a burglary sentence in Joliet, confessed to killing Chicago Patrolman Robert J. Macanney after a sleeping-scene description was heard by a fellow inmate and relayed to authorities. ONeill says he shot the officer at Wentworth and Sixty third Street November 16, 1907, and will be returned to Chicago for trial.
