United Press reports Dayton Ohio areas on the West Side remain submerged with authorities estimating 150 to 200 dead. Rebuilding work begins as water recedes, public buildings deemed safe, and sanitation crews tackle debris and disease risk amid continued relief efforts.
Moll Brooks, about 19, was riding behind a boy when the horse bolted and threw her. Her neck was dislocated and she remained unconscious with a broken neck. She was hospitalized two miles north of Imboden and shows little chance of recovery.
Acting Governor Futrell and Attorney General Moore back a plan to use convicts from the Arkansas State Farm to bolster levees along the St Francis and other flood-threatened sites.
