President Wilson Accepts Assistant Secretary Resigns

Washington March 20 Huntington Wilson assistant secretary of state resigned over the new administration policy on China. The president accepted the resignation promptly and will administer routine matters through the third assistant while Bryan is absent and matters of moment go to the president Tumulty announced the resignation does not alter Bryan's plans in the West.

Morals and Minimum Wages Discussed With President

On March 20 President Wilson will hear details on low wages for women and the white slave traffic. Lieutenant Goreme Ohara of Wisconsin, leading the committee investigating conditions, will have ten minutes with the President Saturday afternoon. Wilson is interested in broad wage policy, mothers pensions, and humanitarian issues, but plans no public statements. A Fuller’s advertisement notes a Saturday sale and the musical show A Modern Eve at Ozark Monday.

Negro Switches Republican Button in Taft Era

In Washington on March 1 a black man wearing a Taft button sought a political favor from Tommy Brahaney, assistant secretary to the president. Brahaney denied the request and later greeted the man, who bore the name Wilson Brick, remarking he now appears as a fellow Democrat as party loyalties shift before March 4.

Wife Charged With Murder In Husband Case

Mrs Eaton widow of Rear Admiral Eaton was arrested in Hinsham Mass on March 20 charged with murdering her husband. The arrest marks a climax in a long mystery with little naval detail and a secretive probe. She pleaded not guilty as a continuance was set to March 28.
