Aviator Latham Rescued After Dover Flight From Calais

The French aviator Herbert Latham attempted a Channel crossing from Calais to Dover. After starting near Sangatte and flying about sixteen miles at height, his monoplane’s motor failed and fell into the water. The torpedo boat destroyer Harpon rescued Latham and his aircraft, with a crowd watching from the Calais shore as the start was signalled and the flight began at dawn.

Lightning Strikes Fans Kill Two at Park Event

2000 Breakers at Work in McKees Rocks Pa

About 2000 workers filled the plant at 7 o clock Monday in McKees Rocks as a provisional strike stance continued. Don Carlos, Pretender to Spanish Throne, Dies in Bangkok

Don Carlos, Duke of Madrid and claimant to the Spanish throne, died after a period of ill health. Born March 20, 1848, in Laybach, Austria, he had led opposition and proclaimed loyalty in Aragon and Valencia during the Carlist conflicts. He had long claimed succession under a now-archaic royal line and was last active in the years of the Four Years War.
