Senate Passes Payne Aldrich Tariff Amid 84 Amendments

Sergeant Johnson Dies After Jikiri Fight On Jolo

Manila reports Sergeant Robert Johnson of the artillery died from wounds suffered last Monday in the clash with the Moro outlaw Jikiri near Patian on Jolo island. Private O'Connell of Troop A, sixth cavalry, had died the day of the fighting. Twenty four American soldiers were wounded including Lieutenants Archibald Miller Arthur H Wilson and Kennedy. Corporal Hause was mortally wounded. The battle cost two American lives but destroyed Jikiri and his band, earning praise from natives.
