Frisco System Train Schedule and Attractions

The Frisco System operates wide-vent electric-lighted trains with Fred Harvey cafe cars. Timetable shows Texas Mail at 11 29 p m, Texas Limited at 8 28 am, Ft Smith Pass at 11 55 am. North bound routes include St Louis Kansas City mail 4 17 am and St Louis Ltd 8 pm, Eastern Ex 6 05 pm. Oklahoma Muskogee district trains 8 40 am and 7 40 pm. Effective July 19 1903. agent W P McNatt.

Fireworks Wipe Out Town in Shaw Mississippi

A match dropped among fireworks ignited a blaze that destroyed nearly all the business portion of Shaw, Mississippi. The fire started in George Miller's store and spread along Main Street toward the railroad, though the depot survived.

Virginia Couple Weds Aboard York River Steamer

Chas A Smith widower and Mary Ann Smith from Gloucester Virginia married in Baltimore after arriving by the Charlotte. They quickly obtained a license at the courthouse and married, then returned to the steamer before it sailed. The bride caused a stir by saying she had never worn shoes until Tuesday.

Alma youth found dead in Fort Smith hotel room

Herbert Harris aged 22 of Alma Arkansas was found dead in a Fort Smith Artilee Hotel room at 5 30 PM. Excessive foaming at the mouth suggested sublimate poison. Harris had last registered claiming he wished to retire quickly and was later found with a half emptied bottle beside him. Harris recently came into a small inheritance and reportedly gamed at races heavily. A brother in Alma is described as well to do.

Panama Canal Treaty Likely to Be Ratified in Senate

In Washington on December 24 the canal treaty appears headed for ratification with 65 votes forecast. Republicans Hale and Hoar would back it, joined by several Democrats including Mallory Taliaferro Bacon Clay McEnery Foster, while Gorman faces caucus hurdles. Representative Richardson predicts ratification prospects are favorable.
