Hyde trial ends as juror is released in murder case
Kansas City December 14 The second hearing of Dr B Clarke Hyde on the murder charge of Colonel Thomas H Swope ended in a mistrial Judge Porterfield discharged the entire jury and Harry Waldron Hyde’s juror who escaped custody returned home The third trial for Hyde is set for January 2 1912 with a likely continuance expected The defense objected to the dismissal but the judge ruled the defendant’s rights were not jeopardized The cost of the Hyde trial is estimated at about 75000 with roughly 10000 spent by the county
