Cotton report cites 1912 bale ginnings drop from last year

Washington December 9 Special census cotton report estimates the Dow 1 1912 crop ginnings at 11 844 432 bales including round bales 72 927. Sea Island included 61 275 bales. Also a help wanted ad seeks a traveling salesman with horse and buggy to sell to farmers in Ft Smith and Fayetteville areas.

Local Cunard offices denied rumors of trouble on the Mauretania after a wireless from the ship reported it 555 miles from Queenstown with all aboard well. The company says no basis for the rumor and traces origin to unclear sources.

Taft May Visit Panama Soon

President Taft will decide this afternoon whether to embark on the final executive trip to the Panama Canal aboard the battleship Arkansas sailing from Key West on December 17. If confirmed, he would depart Washington next Friday and spend Christmas at Christobal. the Arkansas carries husaries, bath tube beds, and wireless operators to stay connected with Washington. The Delaware accompanies the Arkansas to house overflow Taft party.
