Victor Berger laments the lack of Socialists in the next Congress after his defeat and reviews recent gains. He predicts two million more Socialist votes in the next election and warns of a political revolution and industrial panic if Democrats do not cut living costs and fulfill platform promises within two to four years.
The impeachment trial of Judge Archbald opened in Washington as the Senate reconvened at 2 p.m. The first witness testified, with hopes to finish before Christmas. Judge Worthing, Archbald’s chief counsel, warned of technical objections likely to delay proceedings. The defense plans to call about twenty witnesses.
Washington reports Representative Gardner of Texas urged the House investigating committee to file information demanding Wickersham explain why the Tex as warrant in the oil case has not been served on Archbold. Also noted are property deeds filed for record in Springdale and Fayetteville along with Rev. Marion Nelson Waldrip's return from the Arkansas Conference meeting presided by Bishop Candler.

President salary remains 75000 and the President’s secretary 6000. The measure omits ex presidents as congressmen at large and provides secretary salaries be paid by the House clerk.
Acting Governor W C Rogers granted a respite delaying Werthen Lawhon’s hanging from December 13 to December 27 after relatives sought a petition for life imprisonment. Lawhon, convicted in Saline County for poisoning a rival with whiskey, faces new delay amid financial hardship hindering an appeal to the Supreme Court.
President Taft urged the National Rivers and Harbors Congress to support a fifty million dollar appropriation to build levies on the Mississippi River. He said the project would save thousands of lives and protect millions in property and called for federal leadership with state cooperation.
