Young Harrison Dies After Train Accident

Dewey Harrison 21, porter at the American National Bank, died from injuries after being thrown from an Iron Mountain freight near Vian Oklahoma. He and two companions rode the rails to Tulsa and he alleges a brakeman threw him from the train. His funeral will be held at his father's home Thursday.

British Marines Reinforce Belgians at Ostend

Churchill told the House of Commons that reserve ship marines are now at Ostend reinforcing the Belgians. The expedition is large but figures were not given. Unofficial reports claim Roubaix and Vallenciennes may have fallen to Germany, with British troops in action yesterday and reporting splendid performance and promising prospects.

Four Counts Murder Charge For Ark. Farmer

Clark county grand jury indicts Elihu Francis for first degree murder on four counts accusing him of killing his wife and three children near Lenox March 3 and later burning the house with the bodies. He shows agitation in court and says he will do nothing, cannot pay a lawyer, and does not know possible witnesses. Trial set for September 2.

Widow Manwell Sues for Husband's Death in Hop Riot

Marysville California widow of District Attorney E T Manwell sues John and Ralph Durst for 150000 over his death during a hop pickers riot at the Durst ranch in Wheatland. The suit claims Manwell was killed while pleading with the workers after Sheriff Voss brought a posse to the scene.

City Water Plant audited report for year ending March 31 1914 shows receipts disbursements totaling 18355 58 with minor balance discrepancy of 13 99. Carl Morris of Sapulpa rescued 14 year old Samuel Nelson from drowning at the dam south of town. Morris and several friends were swimming when Nelson cried for help and sank twice before Morris pulled him to safety.

Bond Amendment Campaign Plans Detailed At Court House Meeting

Proponents of Amendment No. 14 outlined a county wide push to win passage on September 18. Jerome Reynolds Dr W N Yates and F O Gulley were named to organize canvassing and fund raising A W Parke of Little Rock explained the measures limiting bonded debt to seven percent of valuations and a seven mill tax cap, bonds issued only by voters approval, par transfer only and no discounts The meeting noted the amendment had passed in the state two years earlier and urged strong public support Continued on Page 4.
