Mrs. 5 L Bowen of Wayne West Virginia reports severe kidney disease left her bedridden until Foley's Kidney Remedy cured her. She says a one dollar bottle and part of a second fully healed her condition. A.C. McAdams also endorses the product.
The suit accuses a publisher and associates of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act by restraining competition in book distribution within Arkansas. plaintiffs seek damages and injunctive relief to restore competitive conditions in the market.
In Newport Arkansas on August 15 a 16 page complaint was filed in Jackson circuit court by state officials alleging the American Book Co. dominates 90 percent of the school book market and participates in a pool of trusts. The suit seeks fines up to 2 million and company ouster, citing control of publishers and text book adoption practices and a past Texas settlement.
Thomas D. De Witt a longtime West Side leader and millionaire coal merchant died after a sudden illness in the quarters of Misa Ollie Lowe an actress. He was over 60 with extensive Pelham Manor and Bronx real estate holdings and belonged to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Holland Society New York Athletic and Colonial clubs. He had appeared in papers as the angel for Hope Booth and had lived apart from his family for two years.
William T. Foley aged 21 formerly a messenger boy and Louise V. Reitz widow of John A. Reitz a Evansville millionaire wed at Mount Carmel Indiana. The couple eloped reportedly and Foley issued the statement. Reitz is noted as one of Evansville’s wealthiest women.
A robber entered Merchants' Bank at Van derwort and held up cashier F. Rh. Crane and two depositors, taking about 500 dollars. He forced the trio to walk to nearby woods, mounted a horse, and escaped across the Oklahoma line as a posse pursues him.
York Pennsylvania August 14 Scott Johnson an alleged Maryland murderer escaped from Sheriff Hager by making a daring leap from a fast moving train in York. He vanished into the city amid pursuit and authorities sought him as a major fugitive.
