Veterans and citizens gathered for Decoration Day ceremonies led by Pastor Ali. The Gideon American Legion Post met at 1 6 and marched to the Methodist church with the Flay's Band. Dr Parker delivered an address recounting Perry Bryan’s service as a drummer and youngest Union Army soldier. After service, the procession visited the cemetery to place flowers on graves. A notable exhibition drill by over thirty public school girls led by Earl Wooldridge featured color bearers Mike Ruby and Jack, marching to honor veterans. The drill, praised by soldiers and townspeople, enhanced the day’s program and reflected strong training.

Fayette Boys Win at Oelwein Meet Despite Rain
Fayette High School boys defeated Oelwein and West Union at an Oelwein meet held last Saturday. Only half the events ran yet Fayette led with 31 points to 15 for Oelwein and 8 for West Union as heavy rain halted proceedings and soaked a dozen Fayette girls who attended.

Elijah Oratorio Delights Fayette Audience Under Crain
Friday night performance of the Elijah oratorio, directed by Prof J W Crain, drew a full Fayette audience and was praised as one of the best of the three. Solos by Victor Downer and Charles La Berge impressed, with Miss Mary Miller and Miss Bertha M. Mershon excelling in vocal technique, while Ruth Searles earned strong acclaim for piano accompaniment throughout the two and a half hour concert.

Accident Fatal to Three Near Atkinson
Southbound passenger train delayed by an accident near Atkinson as a team hit the crossing a mile west. Mr Weaselman of Calmar and his wife with five children suffered injuries. three children killed. two other children unharmed. Myron Ashby assisted passengers and the train transported victims to Calmar. Secondhand items offered include a 20th Century Encyclopedia and Remington typewriter.
