Pioneer Tale of Peter and Polly Recounts Wisconsin Land Openings
A story recounts Peter and Polly’s voyage to Wisconsin in 1840s with letters home from Indiana, noting land at $1.25 per acre, cleared prairie, crops, and readiness for winter. They describe neighbors, forts, a doctor turned teacher, and early settlers amid Winnebago and Sioux tensions, ending with a funeral notice for A. N. Toutsch and community gratitude.
