Big Irrigation Work Starts in San Juan Basin

W L Hucker & Co. with French capital begin enlarging the Hammond Canal in San Juan County New Mexico. The project will extend 12 miles now, 34 miles after enlargement, irrigating about 12 000 acres along the San Juan river. Estimated cost 300 000 dollars, with ranchers signing contracts next week.

Narrow Escape near Bayfield as Pony Dashes toward Arroyo

Mrs Roy Gibbs and Miss Helen Prewitt escaped serious harm when their pony bolted across a bridge area three miles from Bayfield. The dashboard was kicked out and Prewitt slid between the bogey and horse, her legs dragging as the animal neared Dry Creek arroyo. The horse halted two feet from the peril, saving her life. Prewitt suffered a badly bruised leg and bed rest is expected, while Gibbs was helped to safety.

The Town of Farmington New Mexico Board of Trustees met September 10 1912 with Swenning Wright Hubbard Mumma and absent Minner. Minutes approved. Fire insurance relief ordinances discussed and copies requested from Brighton and Grand Valley. Ordinance 42 passed final and published with one opposed. Ordinance 43 passed final and published. Meeting adjourned to next regular session.

History of the M E Mission Corner Stone Stirs Navajo Work

The corner stone of the Navajo Mission was laid last Sunday with over fifty in attendance. Rev. R A Waldraven led the service and prayers for continued success. Mrs. Eldredge wrote the mission history placed in the stone, noting flood losses and the early rough years beginning in 1891 with Miss Raymond and Mrs. Eldridge.
