District Court Proceedings Open in San Juan County

A busy term of district court opened October 9 with Judge John R. McFie presiding. Grand and petit juries were drawn after examinations, and a lengthy docket shows multiple civil cases, continuances, trials set for October 11, and dismissals or motions on numerous actions against individuals and organizations in San Juan County.

Grand Jury Panel Names and Trial Terms

The sheriff listed Grand Jury members led by foreman George A. Tinker and dozens of names for juror panels. The court set trial for Oct 11 and overruled a motion to quash with exceptions taken.

Jury awards 8500 damages in Kinsley guardian case

Jury finds for the plaintiff in the matter of Mary A. Kinsley guardian of Daniel Sullivan's minor heir. Damages assessed at 8500. Conveyance of 80 acres near Largo and a town lot in Aztec confirmed and approved. Foreman W H O’Neill, 419.

Six Parallel Grand Jury Indicts and Court Finalizes Report

The Grand Jury reports indictments including Territory v Frank Dodson for Sunday law violations and Territory v George Salmon for disfiguring a bull. It lists larceny and embezzlement cases against Dodson and Kounig, and a jury verdict finding in favor of Palmer et al for $121 in damages against Wm Ross after trial.

McHenry v Town of Farmington continued to next term

The case of C H McHenry against the Town of Farmington is continued to the next term. Jury waived in the J A Brothers vs R Blake appeal with evidence heard. Court awards damages of 635 and costs to the plaintiff. Proceedings continued on the third page.
