Governor Subpoenaed as Anti-Gambling Bill Passes

Special to the Enterprise from Santa Barbara March 1907 reports Governor Hagerman subpoenaed to testify before the Legislative Investigating Committee about deeds and a 11000 payment tied to land transfers claimed illegal. It cites 7000 acres of territorial timber lands conveyed to the Pennsylvania Development Company connected to the Enterprise National Bank failure in Allegheny. Lands value cited 25 to 100 per acre but sold at 3 per acre. federal law then restricted sales to 160 acres per purchaser. House passed the anti gambling bill unanimously. Three cent fare bill passes House 17 to 8.
