La Plata Lands Restored to Public Entry

The Interior Department restored about 225000 acres in San Juan county to public entry and disposition after determining the La Plata irrigation project infeasible. Entries and settlement will be announced later, not less than three months from restoration.

Grand jury targets coal and timber frauds across western states

Investigations in Denver lead to about seventy indictments from Colorado Wyoming Nebraska New Mexico Utah Nevada and eastern states. Indictments include several timber and coal companies and up to two Durango coal officials. Detained officials from Archuleta County and a St Louis coal firm also rumored. Penitentiary probe in Santa Fe includes accounting disputes from ex Governor Hagerman era.

Jury Disgrace Marked Ramirez Murder Trial Verdict
