Royal Arch Masons organize new Farmington Chapter
The Royal Arch Masons of Farmington and vicinity completed organizing a new chapter after a three day session. Outside guests included Clifton O. Young and Chas A Wheelon from New Mexico with Durango officers joining. Several members from Farmington were exalted to Royal Arch Mason status. The event drew visitors pleased with the Ban Juan country.

Farmington Class of 1913 Graduation Honors Local School
Farmington’s F H S Class of 713 staged an excellent commencement in Allen Hall led by Prof. Baughman and the school staff. Ten graduates, five girls headed to teaching at the Farmington Institute, were praised for achievements and contribution to education. The program featured an orchestra, invocations, salutatory Lyndall Butler, class history by Allene Johnson, a vocal duet by Frances Rice and Cecille Goodding, a prophecy by Nugent Bousman, an essay on Government and Indians by Allene Jokamon, Liszt Rhapsody No. 2 solo by Kathleen Hill, an address by Rev. R C. Jackson, diplomas by W L Paddock, and a class song with closing benediction by Rev. F B Downs.

A Peace program will be held Monday night at the Farmington Presbyterian church starting at o'clock. Admission is free and all interested may attend. The program includes prayers for universal peace, talks on the peace movement, musical performances, and addresses by Rev. F. A. Downs, M. F. P. Fiefield, and Grace Anderson with musical pieces by Chas. D. George and Harvey Waylor.

San Juan Basin Oil Company gathers subscriptions totaling over $8,000 with aims to raise $12,000 to $15,000 for three preliminary test holes. Trustees plan to buy a rig and equipment. J. O. Noggle will ship drilling gear from eastern points, targeting operation by August. Donors across Durango, Farmington, Santa Fe, and other New Mexico and Colorado towns include F. W. Clancy, Samuel Cartwright, Herschs, M. L. Burrows, John C. Noggle, and many local businesses.

Memorial Day Exercises Highlight Allen Opera House Service
Memorial Day observance in Allen at the Opera House drew over two hundred locals. The San Juan Orchestra played, with band selections, Indian songs, and a bass solo by Mr. Voorhees. Miss Dickson from St Louis impressed listeners with her voice as Capt. J W Wingate of the Durango G A R delivered the memorial address.

Will Scott, called the Man in Overalls, won third prize in the Denver Decoration Day marathon. Farmington crowds lined streets for a homecoming tribute with bands, flowers, and a mayoral bouquet as Scott recounted his unlikely journey from Platoro mining district to the race start.
