Last Thursday Aztec and nearby towns held a sizable Fourth of July celebration. Cedar Hill defeated Flora Vista 12 to 0 in the morning ball game while Aztec beat Farmington 11 to 2 in the afternoon. A spirited basket game, prize fight bulletins, races, and evening band concerts at Green's and Pinkstaff's drew large crowds. The Woodman and McCully Orchestras provided music late into the night as dancing continued past one. The countywide event wrapped up as a success with Farmington Fair planned for September.

Fourth of July Picnic at Depews Hosts Methodists
The 1912 Fourth celebration gathered families from Methodist Ave at Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Depew home starting at eleven o'clock. Rev. R. A. Waldraven Larkin Beck of Fruitland and O. C. Thompson joined the gathering as baskets overflowed with fried baked stewed chicken and pies. After noon day spread and games the evening featured fireworks and a farewell supper.

Death of Luther J. Powell After Long Tuberculosis Struggle
Luther Joseph Powell eldest son of Mr and Mrs D L Powell died last Saturday at his home west of town after a protracted battle with tuberculosis. He had been in declining health since returning from Arizona last fall. The funeral was Sunday at the Methodist church with Saints of Pythias and Knights rites. He leaves parents a sister Jess ie and two brothers Cecil and a younger brother. The community offers sincere sympathy as his lodge members recall his valued friendship and relief from suffering.
