A Florida rural report describes a sugar cane syrup operation near Punta Gorda with a three roller mill powered by a gasoline engine and an evaporating pan. The plant yields about 150 gallons daily, sold in 90 cent cans, while cane cultivation supports a second tomato crop and additional vegetables on adjacent land.

The event at Mrs G B Pratt’s home drew about forty mothers from town. The program featured songs and recitations and an excellent paper by Mrs B E Cathcart on caring for children from two to eight years. Cocoa and cake were served, making the afternoon pleasant and profitable.
On Tuesday night Rev. D. E. Bundy met with several town youths and formed a Boy Scout unit. Elliott Locke and daughter Lucille of Red Mesa, visiting town this past year, returned Tuesday for their departure and time spent in town.
Mr and Mrs R B Baker were Dallas visitors. the Travis brothers returned to town last week from Lib where they spent winter. W W Shidier left late in the week for other parts after a week or so visiting in town.
