Directors of the San Juan Basin Oil Company met at W Goff Black's Aztec office Tuesday and finalized the organization. Present were G C Graden W Goff Black J O Nogge and Frank Staplin with E C Abbott's proxy held by Staplin and Arthur Ponsford's by Black. Officers elected include E C Abbott president Ga I Graden vice president Frank Staplin secretary treasurer J O Noggle superintendent.
Last Friday marked a road day movement in San Juan County. Volunteers cleared boulders on the Farrington to Fruitland road and filled holes with shale, with culverts added where needed. Ranchers prepared despite rain threats, planning monthly observances to build some of the finest roads in the state with aid from the road commission.
Mre D J Craig and Grandma Fank will show wool carding and spinning at the fair this year. The younger crowd will witness a sight never seen before and will travel miles to attend. The event is described as a dinger by locals, with high excitement surrounding the long awaited display.
The community eyes a September fair queen contest with candidates Miss Blanche Allen Miss Kathleen Hill Miss Bessie McDonald and Miss Anna Castonguay. Votes boost via new or renewing subscriptions with rates listed and a final appeal from Mrs W W Smith George Doak M L Burrows.
Advertisers Burrows and Goodding Paddack in Farmington launch a free Grafonola giveaway with 200 prize pool on January 28. Shoppers spend one dollar for one thousand votes. top vote getters win the Grafonola and other prizes totaling 500 dollars. A meeting at Allens Opera House reported strong progress for the Farmington fair. Committees aim to stir activity for two days, Thursday and Friday September 11 and 12. Local merchants will each exhibit, requiring tents in the grounds exhibit hall. A musical exhibit is planned as an attraction.
