On The Elgin Routes, Whos and Hay of route D return from the state fair. Oreile Morris with son or second Mrs W CG Moret operates returned to his home on route L. Mrs Frank Hunter of route 2 reports on the sick list. W Hassenbeck of route 1 reforged debt from Oklahoma City where he attends the water fair. AL Lake of route 2 returned from Oklahoma City after attending the state fair. Eugene Barrow rents the James Nicholes firm on route 1 for the coming year as the late term expects to leave locally. TS Lake and Carl Hendricks of route 2 went to Oklahoma City Friday to attend the state fair. Mrs EW Allen of route A received a message Tuesday stating that her sister Mrs Della Berkey of Shawnee is dangerously ill.

Caught With Liquor In Elgin Court Imposes Small Fines

Deputy Bauman nabbed two soldiers and a driver in Elgin after a tip about liquor. All three men pleaded guilty or were found guilty for intoxication and unlawful possession. Each received a five dollar fine plus costs and paid up before leaving court.

State Fair Prizes At Oklahoma Show

At the Oklahoma State Fair last week HH. PL Wottenge won first on his Winter Orvingtons and placed second and fourth on other poultry events. Entries cost 50 cents per head or $1.00 per pen. 12 head plus pen cost $7.00 to enter. Prizes offered included 82.00 for first and 5.00 for second on singles, 8.00 for first and 2.00 for second on pens. Wottenge netted $6.00 in cash, with travel expenses about $1.30 each way, totaling over $4.00 more than premiums, while advertising value was high.

Soldier Funeral for Frederick Hellas at Fletcher School

A military funeral for Frederick Hellas was held Sunday afternoon in Fletcher school auditorium at 2 pm. Rev Johnson preached, with the Fa Sal band providing music. The service, said to be the largest in the area, concluded with burial beside his father Patrick Holian, in a cemetery east of town. Hellas was twenty years old and died in France. his mother, a widow, lives midway between Fletcher and Cyril.

Blind Quartet to Perform at Elgin School Auditorium

A blind mele quartet will present a musical program in Elgin school auditorium Saturday night this week. They arranged with the Elgin school board to share proceeds with the district. Reported as good singers by listeners, they promise a nod entertainment. Attend to aid both the blind and the school.

Mr and Mrs Hydo Kirkler welcomed a girl born last Tuesday. Mr and Mrs R C Montcomb of the star route reported a daughter born Friday night. Louis Flowers and wife announced a daughter born Tuesday afternoon.

Meat Market Sold to Frank Fuller in Elgin

Last week Child Hayes sold the local meat market here to Frank Fuller who is continuing the same business. It notes that meat dealers do not stay long in Kigin, blaming outsiders peddling meat during a stop in town. If the residents want a market they will have done it.

Rev BE Morgan closed the meeting he was conducting at the Baptist church on Sunday. He and his family then traveled from the church to Elk City.

Scratched by wire at Mistletoe school incident

At the Mistletoe school on Friday Mabel Lake daughter of T S Lake was thrown from a horse and badly scratched by barbed wire She was brought to Elgin where Dr Martin dressed her wounds.

A group of visitors from Obickasha Moodey installed four new monuments in the local cemetery to honor memories including Mrs. G and BE Mors ris, marking a modest commemorative effort.

Lee Petty has purchased the residence and 40 acres of ground he occupies from Jennie Hoffer. The transfer covers the dwelling and farm property previously owned by Mrs. Hoffer.
