Traveler and poet Matthew Wayman will deliver the final Karin Lyceum lecture on Tuesday night at 8. The topic is jokingly unclear but his past talks mix entertainment with instruction. He has explored exposing swindlers, fake medicine, and bumptious bunco schemes to teach honesty and civic virtue.
The 4 singers convention named the Comanche County Singers Convention met at Fletcher on Saturday evening and chose Elgin as the site for next year. Officers include president Elgin vice president Rosacker secretary treasurer Roth Leonard chaplain Cost program committees and Miss Rubina Peden assistant pianist. An account of the programs was read but not completed due to time.
Nila Stephens, Cashier, and directors attest the Bank of Elgin in Oklahoma presents a true statement of assets and liabilities as of Bet. 2, 121. Loans and discounts include secured and unsecured amounts. securities total 11,000. cash items total 2,000. deposits surpass 111,000 with time certificates at 9,070. capital stock and surplus fund stated.
The Klin village primary Tuesday passed without opposition for any office. Only one candidate filed for each post, securing votes on both Republican and Democratic tickets. Notable nominees include BR Stephens in 2nd ward, Marvy Sellars in 3rd ward, M Martin as trustee, G C Borkin as treasurer, EB West as trustee 1st ward, and R C Choens as village clerk.
Beaver Valley scholars and youths visited teacher Mies Ella Hasen Week at her home on Saturday night. Mrs Hooper joined as chaperon. John Stanseer served as official driver. The evening featured games and good fun with about thirty attendees.
The Daily Oklahoman will depart Oklahoma City on train 614 to Elgin at 12 41 AM and return from Lawton to Elgin at 1 05 PM, giving Elgin readers 3 hours 10 minutes earlier delivery than before. Seven other Lawton origin dailies also arrive each morning: Oklahoma News, Oklahoma Len, Oklahoma Live Stock News, Mockiges, Phoenix, and two Lawton dailies.
A large barn owned by M. Hhtman was burned early Friday morning. Mr. Abrams, waking later than usual, discovered the blaze at 8 o clock. Seven loaded horses and many other animals were lost, along with four calves, 12 tons of hay, and all grain feed and seed. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
A Saturday Elgin farmers union meeting attracted a record turnout with a beige crowd noted as larger than any prior gathering. A drive added 49 new members including six women, while eleven renewals brought total to over one hundred to date.
Word reached here that Kay McCraw and Miss Stella Mae Hiley were united in marriage at the Christian parsonage in Kingsville Texas on March 2. The groom is a son of Mr and Mrs J T McCraw formerly of the locality.
On The Elgin Route a series of moves and trips are logged. W O S Vinyard and family moved from Elina town to Cache Creek route 1. Folbright traveled to Fort Worth Texas for business last week. Doe Dung and family moved from route L to the farm on route 2. Williams moved from the star route to route 2. A rider was kicked on the hip while working on route 2.
On Monday night after rain in Lawton, a car carrying Chou Hayes and JW Biker skidded and overturned. The occupants were not separated and received only minor injuries while the vehicle sustained damage.
Me and Mrs Sam Cremer of Pittsburg Kansas announced the birth of a baby boy born last Wednesday. The infant has been named Mack Merder Kremer.
