Geronimo Postmaster Appointed From Civil Service Exam

Mrs. A. Q. Dickson, a Geronimo teacher, was appointed postmaster after passing the March 18 civil service exam. She began duties last week, with her husband serving as deputy postmaster after also taking the exam. The department took about two months to finalize the appointment.

On June 19 1863 President Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation freeing all enslaved people in the United States. Last Friday Lawtenne folks marked the 51st anniversary with a scenic celebration near Ft Sill.
